Today about Chathuragiri

Chathuragiri is situated 10 Kms from Watrap near Srivilliputhur.

This is the entrance of the Chathuragirri

The name came from Chathur means (four Vedas) giri means (hills).Where all four Vedas met and formed the hills.

In ancient times Sathuragiri was known as UdayaGiriNathar. In Udayagirinathar a vast tract of land belonged to a wealthy landlord and an ancient Shiva temple was situated in that land. The temple was taken care by an elderly priest. There also was a stream (similar to the present Agaya Ganga Theertham at Sathuragiri) running next to the temple.

Public are allowed only Six days in a month, 3 days each during New Moon & Full Moon days (i.e. Day before & Day after, with Full moon or New moon days).water falls are in Sadhura Giri. Water source are pure and clear. Devotees should not pollute the water source. Everyone should bath carefully in the river.Devotees should save the forest.It is better to avoid plastic covers and water bottles in Sadhuragiri Forest because so many living being is there. How to Reach here: Pilgrims coming from Chennai direction has to come to Madurai and get down at Krishnan Koil Bus Stop on the way to Srivilliputhur then go to Watrap (Watthirairuppu). From Watrap have to go to Thaanipaarai, the base of the hill. Buses are available even from Srivilliputhur itself to Watrap and Thaniparai. Pilgrims travelling from South have to pass through Nagercoil – Tirunelveli – Rajapalayam – Srivilliputhur – Watrap -Thaniparai. And another way via Madurai(mattuthavani)-T.kallupatti -Anaikaraipatti(valai Thoppu) it is the main Entrance to reach the lord shiva temple front gate & on another way of thaniparai is the back Entrance of the lord shiva temple.

Note: There is no difficultie in  climbing the hills.  there is so much of positivity every where you can realise it when you are climbing the hills.  Think only of lord shiva you will have no problems and all problems will disappear. You can find very old people climbing the hill for there well fare of their family.visit once in life time. Thank you .
