Crowning Glory Meenakshi Amman Temple

Tamil Nadu is the seat of South Indian  temple  architecture, the Madurai Meenakshi Amman  Temple  is its crowning glory. The  temple  structure with its concentric squares and high walled enclosures is a lesson for students of architecture. The  temple  is square shaped and a series of concentric streets with names from Tamil months surround the structure. The entire  temple  occupies around 45 acres, with each side having an entrance of its own. Madurai Meenakshi  temple ’s history is as old. Madurai Meenakshi temple was built by King Kulasekara Pandya (1190-1216 CE). Ramanathapuram District  is an administrative district of Tamil nadu state in southern  India. The town of Ramanathapuram is the district headquarters. Manju virattu   literally means 'bull chasing'. Jallikattu, also known as eru thazhuvuthal and manchuvirattu ,  is a traditional event in which a bull  such as the Pulikulam  or Kangayam breeds  is released into a crowd of people, and multiple human participants attempt to grab the large hump on the bull's back with both arms and hang on to it while the bull attempts to escape. Participants hold the hump for as long as possible, attempting to bring the bull to a stop. Tirparappu Waterfalls Tirparappu Waterfalls are a 300 ft (91 m) long rocky riverbed, at a height of nearly 50 ft (15 m). The waterfall flow with great force for around seven months. The bed above the falls is a rocky mass that extends up to a distance of about quarter of a kilometre upstream, with a were constructed for supplying water to nearby paddy fields. Near the falls is a fortified temple dedicated to Lord shiva, called the   Mahadevar  Kovil . It is three of the twelve  Shivalayas , famous for the  Shivalaya Ottam  during the Indian festival of shivaratri .  Devotees believe Lord mahadev  lives here as  Virabhadra , a fierce incarnation of the Lord Shiva to kill Daksha Prajapati, after the death Sati Devi .   I t was named after the presence of the Bhoothalingam(Bhoothapandi) , which is famous for its sculptures and architecture. The surrounding area is green and fertile. The village is only 25 minutes from Nagercoil  and its views of the  Western Ghats  attract many tourists and photographers. The town spans an area of around 5 km² withThituvali Thuvarancaud, Arasankuzhi, Andithoppu, Mannadi, Saattupudoor, and Manathittai as its sub-villages.
